ReturnPal helps you track receipts and return deadlines. We designed the app to work without accounts and to keep data on your device by default. This Privacy Policy describes what data we process, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Overview
ReturnPal is a mobile app for iOS and Android. The core experience runs locally on your device: scanning/importing receipts, extracting text, saving return cards, and scheduling reminder notifications.
Data We Process
- On your device (default):
- Receipt images you capture or import.
- Extracted text used to auto-fill retailer, dates, and amounts.
- Return cards you save (retailer, purchase/return dates, amounts, notes).
- Notification schedules and settings.
- Shared to others (optional Rooms feature):
- If you join or create a Room, selected return cards (or parts of them) can be shared with other room members.
- Room data is stored with our infrastructure provider so others in the Room can see it in real time.
- Purchases (optional):
- If you subscribe to ReturnPal Pro or make in‑app purchases, transaction metadata required to complete and validate the purchase is processed by the app stores and our payments partner.
How We Use Data
- Provide and improve the app’s features (scan receipts, auto‑fill, reminders, Rooms).
- Process in‑app purchases and manage entitlements if you choose to upgrade.
- Communicate essential service messages (e.g., permission prompts or policy updates in‑app).
Processing Locations
On‑device data remains on your device. If you use optional cloud features (e.g., Rooms, purchases), data may be processed by our service providers in the United States and other regions, subject to their security measures and compliance programs.
Third‑Party Services
We minimize third‑party integrations. Depending on the features you use, the app may interact with:
- Apple App Store / Google Play — to process purchases and restore entitlements.
- RevenueCat — to manage in‑app purchases and subscriptions (purchase tokens, product identifiers, entitlement status).
- Cloud database (for Rooms) — to store shared return cards so room members can view/import them.
- Operating system services — camera, photo library, and notifications you authorize.
We do not serve ads or sell personal data.
Permissions
- Camera & Photos — to scan or import receipt images.
- Notifications — to remind you before return deadlines.
Data Retention & Deletion
- On device: Your data remains until you delete cards, remove images, or uninstall the app.
- Rooms: Items shared to a Room remain available to room members until removed. You can leave a Room at any time; leaving does not automatically delete content other members previously received.
- Purchases: Stores and our payments partner retain purchase records as required for billing, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
Your Choices
- Use the app entirely offline and on‑device.
- Leave a Room to stop sharing new items.
- Delete cards to remove their data from your device.
- Disable notifications in your system settings or in‑app.
- Restore purchases from the app’s Settings if you reinstall.
Legal Bases (GDPR)
Where applicable, we rely on your consent (e.g., permissions), performance of a contract (providing the app you requested), and our legitimate interests (maintaining and improving core functionality). You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
California Privacy (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising. You may request access or deletion of personal information, subject to applicable exceptions.
Children’s Privacy
ReturnPal is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child provided us data, contact us and we will address it promptly.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we process. On‑device data stays on your device. For data transmitted to service providers (e.g., Rooms, purchases), we use secure transport (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. We will update the “Last updated” date above and may present an in‑app notice for significant changes.
